Obedience is better than sacrifice

Today I read about Saul, the king of Israel. Saul was appointed to be a king of Israel by God Him-self and there were situations when God was talking to Saul through prophet Samuel. Saul did a lot for the people of Israel but one day the Lord turned His face from Saul just because he disobeyed God.
First time it was when Saul didn’t wait till prophet Samuel comes in Gilgal and broght a sacrifice by him-self. It could be justified by the fact that Saul was waiting for the prophet who didn’t show up in appointed time; people began to run away just before as the battle was to be started. And all seemed like Saul didn’t have any choice but bring the sacrifice by him-self. But God was displeased with this action!
Second time Saul disobeyed God after He told him to smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they had. Saul spared good ox and sheep, lambs. He had good intentions in doing so — he wanted to sacrifice them to God; perhaps Saul wanted to please God with this but it turned to be that God had different opinion on that.
«…Behold, to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and] to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion [is as] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and idolatry…» (1Sa.15:22,23).
Because Saul disobeyed God’s command He found an other man who would fulfill God’s will.
It is very important to walk in obedience to God. We have to do everything He tells us. God has chosen us and sent to accomplish all things He is pleased with. Pay close attention to His voice, meditate and fulfill even if it seems impossible for you to do.
Do what He wants you to!
